The Bay Hotel, Gourock
The art deco style Bay Hotel opened in April 1938 and sat at Gourocks pierhead. The venue of many local weddings in the 40's and 50's and a favourite haunt of American sailors posted just over the water at the Holy Loch, this place was very much a piece of Gourocks history and heritage.
In later years the venue opened the "Janeys" disco which was the ONLY place to go for a night out and over the years gained the reputation as a great gig venue with bands such as The Cranberries, Manic Street Preachers and The Television Personalities all booked to grace the stage amongst many many more.
Alongside other local venues and music nights such as Subterraneans at the Melrose in Greenock, it helped to put Inverclyde on the map musically.
Sadly, the building fell into disrepair and was demolished in March 1999, but it sill holds a special place in many peoples hearts.
Printed on heavyweight art paper, the image is supplied in a mount with the overall dimensions being A4 sized.
Take a look at Blossom Arts other pieces for a trip down memory lane and generous helping of nostalgia!
Supplied unframed.
